JHW Paterson & Son are seeking an experienced Livestock Farm Hand to join our team across two Victorian properties “Glenlevitt” at Hawkesdale and and “Vermont” at Gerrigerrup, each located ten minutes apart. The properties run an Angus herd used for breeding Wagyu progeny for our “Hells Gate Feedlot” in Southern New South Wales as well as operating an AI program for self replacement heifers.

Requirements and responsibilities of your role include:

- Assisting in the management of all animal health requirements including monitoring livestock condition, diagnosis of health symptoms and administration of health treatments

- Maintain control of all stock movements and inventory for high volumes of cattle receivals and dispatches

- Compliance with administrative requirements and livestock recording systems including National Livestock Identification System Database, all Animal Welfare Standards and Work Health Safety policies

- Daily livestock handling and general animal husbandry tasks including receiving, feeding, processing, drafting and cattle dispatch

- Regular communication and coordination with Directors, Managers and employees of JHW Paterson & Son

- Ensure the property and its facilities and kept in a clean, hygienic and working state at all times.

Successful applicants will have the following:

- Strong commitment to animal welfare of the highest standard

- Knowledge of general animal husbandry skills

- Ability to work alone and as part of a team

- Demonstrate self-motivation, initiative and an enthusiasm to learn

- Organisation, and basic administrative skills

- Understanding of basic farm maintenance and farm machinery operation

- Adherence to internal and industry regulations
