Located in Boweya, Victoria, near to Wangaratta. We are a relatively large producer of cherries in Australia, supplying to the Australian supermarkets, wholesalers and many countries around the world. We are a generational family-owned business, currently looking for a motivated and interested person to add to our team as an Irrigator/Skilled Farm Hand. The applicant would be preferred to have had 2 years of work experience at a primary producer, ideally in irrigation work, although for the right applicant, we will train up. We are looking for someone with a ‘can-do attitude’ ready to take on this role with interest. This role will require full-time hours on a casual basis for the 4-5 months for harvest and there is potential for ongoing work for the right applicant. The hourly rate for this position is $31.19 - $33.19p/h + superannuation, rate dependant on experience/skill.

The Irrigator will be responsible for the following tasks:

Irrigate crops as required, using MAIT system

Assess moisture on a daily basis by undertaking crop inspections and using Phytech system

Assist with the application of fertiliser through fertigation systems

Determine and schedule irrigations based on weather and ground conditions

Install, repair and maintain irrigation systems above and below ground

Maintain pumping systems for irrigation

Daily maintenance of irrigation systems

Completing general tasks assisting others as required

Participate in staff development as requested or required

Inspect and report any maintenance required

Perform irrigation related labour including repairing valves, digging trenches, and replacing poly pipe

General farm duties, outside irrigating as required eg: tractor driving, spraying, general labour

The successful candidates will:

Have demonstrated experience of using irrigation systems (training will be given on our systems if not familiar)

Possess excellent problem-solving abilities

Work well in a small team and on their own

Have strong communication skills

Take a detail-oriented approach to collecting and reporting data

Be computer literate

Be physically fit enough to complete irrigation and labouring tasks
