About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, values-driven Director of Services to lead our flagship Seniors Peak program. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will provide strategic, operational, financial, and people leadership across a diverse portfolio. The program includes the seniors social isolation prevention peak, seniors' policy and research activities, state-wide advocacy and engagement, and the delivery of Queensland Seniors Month.

This senior leadership role will suit someone who is passionate about social impact, understands the importance of elevating older people's voices, and thrives in complex, collaborative environments.

This is a full time SCHADS Level 8 role, with a fixed term contract through to June 2027. It is a Brisbane CBD based position with flexibility, and salary sacrifice is available.

Key Responsibilities

As Director of Services for the Seniors Peak team, you will be responsible for fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing culture that supports staff to excel in their roles. You will provide evidence-based policy and program advice to government, partners, and stakeholders, helping to shape effective responses to current and emerging issues affecting older Queenslanders. This role also requires a robust approach to contract compliance, quality assurance, risk management, and the achievement of agreed deliverables.

Building and maintaining strong stakeholder partnerships will be central to this role. You will work closely with government departments, sector partners, local councils, community organisations and other peak bodies to strengthen collaboration and achieve policy outcomes for older people. In addition, you will lead strategy development, budgeting, reporting, and continuous improvement efforts to support the ongoing growth and effectiveness of the Seniors Peaks program.

Apply for this role if you are motivated to drive policy, programs and strategies that build age-inclusive communities and support equitable participation, wellbeing, and respect for older Queenslanders.

About the successful candidate

As an accomplished leader and manager within human services, you will be able to demonstrate:

Strong strategic leadership, and planning capability, with a track record of delivering complex policy and program outcomes.

Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Ability to lead, inspire, and develop high-performing teams that drive innovation and deliver meaningful social impact.

Do you believe COTA Queensland could be an excellent match for you?

If so, please submit your application via the Apply button, providing us:

A concise cover letter of no more than 2 pages, summarising your relevant capability and experience

A current CV

Applications close midnight, Sunday 17th August 2025.

Please note that questions and discussion regarding this opportunity will only occur with notified shortlisted applicants.

Join our mission to ensure ageing is valued, celebrated, and supported throughout Queensland.
