The Administration and Community Engagement role plays a vital role in supporting the team at Iramoo Community Centre. This position is responsible for developing and implementing educational, social, and recreational programs for the local community, under the guidance of the Centre Manager. This includes promoting existing programs and services to individuals, service providers, and the broader community, as well as identifying and fostering potential partnerships with local organisations, community groups, and other stakeholders. The role involves conducting community consultations in collaboration with the Centre Manager and utilising current demographic research to ensure programs are effectively targeted. An important part of the role is helping create a welcoming, vibrant, and inclusive environment at the Centre, while working closely with the team to ensure everything runs smoothly and efficiently. The position also includes coordinating and supporting volunteers, performing administrative tasks, and contributing to the achievement of the Centre's Strategic Plan goals.
Program Development & Coordination
In consultation with the Centre Manager, define goals and objectives for the ongoing delivery of community development activities.
Plan, implement, and evaluate educational, recreational, and social programs that reflect community needs and priorities.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and impact of programs and activities, making improvements as needed.
Advocate for local community members by identifying unmet needs and facilitating access to appropriate services.
Develop, maintain, and coordinate communication and partnerships with funding bodies, community groups, local organisations, referring agencies, user groups, and other community centres.
Promote and coordinate the school holiday program in collaboration with the Administration and Community Program Support.
Administration
Provide high quality administrative support in line with Centre policies and community expectations.
Produce and distribute the Centre’s newsletter on a regular basis, and monitor and update the Centre’s website and Facebook page to ensure timely and effective communication and promotion of programs, events, and community activities.
Prepare and submit reports for relevant funding organisations.
Provide assistance to administrative staff as required.
Support the management of venue hire operations when needed.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Capacity to identify and develop new programs and services in line with community need
Ability to network with and build effective relationships with the community, service providers and individuals
Demonstrated knowledge of community programs and services
Good organisational skills, including event management, and the ability to work under minimal supervision
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
A positive approach to working with a wide variety of people; including those experiencing disadvantage relating to economic, educational or language difficulties and/or people with disabilities
Ability to implement a creative and varied program which reflects the interests and capabilities of community members
Well developed problem solving and time management skills
Experience with co-ordinating a group of volunteers
Website Management
Other Requirements:
Satisfactory Police Check and valid Working with Children Check
First Aid Level 2, including Anaphylaxis and Asthma Management (or willingness to obtain)
Current driver's licence and access to a reliable, roadworthy vehicle
Conditions of employment in accordance with the Neighbourhood House and Adult Community Education Centres Collective Agreement 2024
This is a Casual Position:
Must be available on:
Wednesdays from 8:30am – 3:30pm
Thursdays from 8:30am – 3:30pm
Additionally, we may ask you to work additional hours as needed, depending on program needs.
