Position Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and experienced Hotel Maintenance Manager to manage and perform maintenance duties across our two Cairns hotel properties. This is a full-time, hands-on position ideal for someone with a background in carpentry and hotel/facilities maintenance, who takes pride in presentation, safety, and operational efficiency. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance of guest rooms, hotel buildings, public areas, gardens, and swimming pools, ensuring everything is kept in top condition.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out and oversee day-to-day maintenance activities across two hotel sites

• Perform hands-on repair and maintenance tasks including carpentry, minor plumbing, patching, tiling, and painting

• Ensure the general upkeep and cleanliness of external hotel grounds and gardens

• Maintain and monitor hotel swimming pools, including chemical testing and cleaning and pump maintenance

• Attend to maintenance requests from hotel departments in a timely and efficient manner

• Conduct routine inspections and implement preventative maintenance programs

• Maintain accurate maintenance records and WHS compliance documentation

• Supervise or liaise with contractors and tradespeople when required

• Prepare a tool inventor and maintain tools, materials, and equipment in safe, serviceable condition

• Prioritise tasks and manage time effectively across both locations

• Ensure high safety standards are upheld at all times

• May be required to assist with emergency repairs or urgent issues outside of standard hours

Skills & Experience Required:

• Proven experience in hotel, commercial or property maintenance

• Background in carpentry or trade qualification highly regarded

• General knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems

• Experience maintaining gardens, lawns, and landscaped areas

• Swimming pool maintenance knowledge preferred

Strong time management and self-direction skills

• Ability to work across multiple sites and manage competing priorities

• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities

• Reliable, professional, and physically fit

• Valid driver's licence required

Must have a current smart phone with Whatsapp installed

• Full-time position working across two hotel properties in Cairns

• Mixture of indoor and outdoor work in all weather conditions

• May involve after-hours or weekend work depending on urgent maintenance needs

• Company vehicle or fuel allowance may be provided for travel between sites (if applicable)
