About the Role
The Public Transport Authority (PTA) is seeking a motivated and committed Senior Project Engineer – Low Voltage (LV) Electrical to join the PTA Project Delivery division on a full-time, five-year fixed-term contract. Reporting to the Principal Project Engineer – LV Electrical, this role will provide technical support to the High Capacity Signalling (HCS) project, ensuring engineering solutions are designed, delivered, and maintained safely, cost-effectively, and to the required quality standards. The responsibilities include:
Providing engineering assistance and advice on the planning, design, upgrade, and modification of existing Low Voltage (LV) electrical systems, ensuring compliance with PTA standards and regulations.
Reviewing and contributing to LV electrical designs, including concept, reference design, detailed designs, Issue for Construction and associated technical documentation.
Coordinating with project engineers and assisting the Principal Project Engineer – LV Electrical in managing technical aspects of LV systems.
Evaluating design deviations, alternative solutions, and value engineering proposals, and providing technical advice and recommendations.
Conducting site and factory inspections, attending testing, participating in meetings, and ensuring compliance with OHS and Rail Safety legislation.
Assisting with contract management, including documentation, tender evaluation, and contract administration.
Supporting project delivery through stakeholder engagement, report preparation, meeting participation, and correspondence.
About You
To excel in this role, you should possess:
Electrical Engineering degree or related qualification with professional recognition, and substantial experience in planning, design, and construction of infrastructure projects.
Extensive knowledge of engineering practices, contract and project management, with proven experience in design, construction, and maintenance of engineering systems.
Demonstrated contract development and management skills, with experience working alongside contractors in public transport infrastructure projects.
Strong management abilities, providing clear guidance and feedback to multidisciplinary project teams.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to deliver innovative and effective solutions.

There is currently one fixed term opportunity for five years available for an immediate start with the possibility of renewal and/or permanency. Applicants assessed as suitable through this process will be placed in a pool and may also be considered for similar vacancies on a fixed term or permanent basis that may arise within the next 12 months.
