About Centrecare
Centrecare is a not-for-profit organisation with over 300 employees and is committed to delivering quality professional counselling, support, accommodation, mediation and training services in over 11 locations across the Perth metropolitan, Goldfields and South West regions.
The Role
This role aims to provide short term support to young people aged 12-18 years, who are at risk of poor life outcomes living in the service area of Kalgoorlie, Coolgardie and Kambalda and is responsible for engaging and building relationships within the community to enable increased youth engagement with Centrecare services. A passion to work with young people taking on a case management approach of 10-12 clients at a time to engage them in, but not limited to, community events, schooling, family, recreation, art, sports and music.
To be successfully shortlisted you must be able to work flexible hours Monday to Friday as negotiated up to 8:30pm and have the ability to stay a maximum of 4 nights in the outreach community as required.
A few specifics:
- Ability to communicate effectively with young male and female clients.
- Facilitate, coordinate and deliver a range of outreach and community/youth events: sport, recreation, art, music, dance and on-country excursions/camps.
- Link young people and their families with internal Centrecare programs and other external agencies.
- Able to lead and be a positive role model to youth who reside in Goldfields communities.
About You
- Recognised qualifications in Community Development, Social Work, Social Sciences, Youth Work and related disciplines or equivalent OR relevant experience in the area of general counselling, family support and/or youth counselling.
- Experience in Outreach work – e.g. community settings, home settings, detention centres and at other agency locations.
- Demonstrated ability to work across cultures.
- Able to work flexible hours Monday to Friday as negotiated up to 8:30pm Monday to Friday.
- Ability to stay a maximum of 4 nights in the outreach community as required.
- Possession of a current 'C' class driver’s license.
- Working with Children's Check.
- National Police Certificate.
