About the role

As part of the Environmental Health Team, this role will assist with enforcement of the Tobacco and Other Smoking Products Act 1998, Medicines and Poisons Act 2019 and other Public Health legislation. The Officer will be expected to assist with conducting routine compliance inspections, undertake evidence gathering during targeted enforcement and where necessary prepare briefs of evidence and appear in court hearings.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Ability to interpret legislation, regulations and other guidance material relating to the operations and functions of the work unit. Working knowledge of smoking product supply issues and legislation will be highly regarded.
  • High motivation with demonstrated flexibility in approach to work and the working environment, and willingness to participate in cross program initiatives as required by management.
  • Ability to use verbal and written communication skills to communicate effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and with limited supervision in a multidisciplinary team to achieve work outcomes

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
