The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Clinical Nurse Consultant (Mental Health Intervention Coordinator) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

• Provide advanced clinical mental health consultation and crisis support
• Display very high standard of knowledge and experience of contemporary clinical management of clients and be able to decisively link in appropriate clinical services where appropriate
• Display a high level of interpersonal skills in communication, consultation, negotiation, problem solving and conflict resolution
• Provide ethical decision making in the achievement of organisational goals and comply with professional corporate codes of ethics and conduct

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

• A Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
• Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
• Credentialed through the College of Mental Health Nurses (or be prepared to work towards a credential in Mental Health Nursing)
• A Masters or higher qualification within a relevant area is highly desirable
• Driver's Licence
• Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
• Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
• Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
• Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

• Permanent full time
• Base salary ranging from $132 562 - $143 924 per annum

The Acute Care Treatment Team (ACT) provide 24-hour, 7 day a week specialist mental health care services across three operational teams. The Gold Coast University Hospital (GCUH) / Intake team's role is to be the first point of contact for the GCHHS Mental Health Service to provide triage, assessment, education, support, information, advice and referral. ACT Community is a mobile outreach crisis response team that offers a range of short-term options tailored to meet individual needs in the community which may also include acute care in the immediate post discharge phase of an inpatient admission. ACT is committed to providing a service that is empathic, courteous and able to develop positive relationships with people in crisis, founded on hope and recovery.
