Are you detail-oriented and passionate about delivering exceptional customer service? We are seeking a Rates Officer for this dynamic role, where your skills and experience will directly impact our community.

About this Role

As Rates Officer, you'll play a key part in maintaining accurate property and rating records, processing incoming correspondence and forms, land information certificates, and responding to customer enquiries.

Your strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and communication skills will be essential in supporting our community and internal stakeholders.

You'll be working in a collaborative team environment where innovation and continuous improvement are encouraged

What we're looking for:

  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • High-level computer and database proficiency
  • Ability to identify and solve complex issues
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to continuous improvement
  • Experience in local government, rating, or property-related fields is highly regarded.

You will be required to:

  • Promptly and efficiently attend to customer enquiries
  • Maintain Council's property database with change of ownership details and prepare land information certificates
  • Effectively communicate with ratepayers including establishing and managing individual payment arrangements.
  • Other administration tasks as required within the Finance Department.

For this position we are seeking someone who possesses a passion for exceptional customer service. You will also exhibit a keen eye for detail by ensuring that all documentation and data is accurately maintained.

You will also have:

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people
  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Demonstrated time management skills to achieve set objectives.
  • Proven customer service experience and skills
  • Experience and/or the ability to quickly adapt to various software packages.

An understanding of property-based rating systems would be desirable but not essential.

The successful applicant will be required to apply for and satisfactorily obtain a National Police Check and hold a valid employee Working with Children Check.
