Senior Automation Engineer - DevOps | Network & Infrastructure Focus

Salary: Up to $165,000 + super + bonus
Location: Hybrid – 2 days in office / 3 days WFH
(1 day in Kogarah on Wednesdays, with the second in either Parramatta or Sydney CBD)

About the Role:

A major financial services organisation is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to help shape and deliver automation across its network and infrastructure landscape. This is a hands-on, high-impact role ideal for someone who thrives in DevOps environments and enjoys working with modern IaC and CaC tools.

As a Senior Automation Engineer, you’ll design and build robust automation workflows and software for network services using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Compliance as Code (CaC) principles. You’ll collaborate closely with DevOps and network teams to implement CI/CD pipelines and automate deployment processes.
You’ll also:

• Develop custom modules and integrations using Ansible and Terraform
• Write tools and scripts in Python to automate tasks and improve operational efficiency
• Leverage containerisation tools like Docker and Kubernetes for network service automation
• Work with MongoDB for configuration management and telemetry
• Apply best practices across coding, Git-based version control, testing, and dependency management

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

• Proficiency in Python for scripting and automation
• Strong hands-on experience with Ansible, including Tower / AWX / Red Hat AAP
• Ability to develop custom Ansible modules and plugins
• Experience with MongoDB (or other relevant databases)
• Exposure to OpenShift and/or Kubernetes environments
• Exposure to Terraform and other IaC tools
• Proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins and/or GitHub Actions)
• Strong understanding of API integrations and platform interoperability
• Self-starter attitude with excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
