Faith Lutheran College Plainland has an outstanding opportunity for a skilled and motivated individual to join a contemporary and progressive Christian secondary school in the role of Science Technician. Ideally, this dynamic individual would thrive in a team environment, be solution oriented, and strive to continuously learn and develop to support innovative teaching practices.

The Science Technician is a key role that is responsible for managing the smooth operation of the College's multiple science laboratories. This role will support the College as it forges new pathways in personalised learning, wellbeing initiatives and out of the box approaches to teaching and learning.

Fixed-term position immediate start until the conclusion of Term 1 2026 (early April 2026).

Full-time hours during term time only (school holidays off!)

Key Responsibilities

This position encompasses a variety of responsibilities including:

Preparation of equipment, materials and solutions for in-class use by staff and students

Maintain science teaching resources, classrooms, storerooms, preparation rooms and laboratories

Assist teaching staff with demonstrations

Provide quality advice to science teachers regarding practical work

Assist with field trip preparations

Maintain a safe working environment, including attending WHS committee meetings

Selection Criteria

The successful candidate will:

Have a diploma qualification (relevant to the role)

Have knowledge of:

Principles and practices of scientific disciplines within the Australian Curriculum

Basic methods and techniques of laboratory testing and analysis

Occupational hazards and standard safety precautions

Utilise and maintain a variety of laboratory resources and equipment

Communicate clearly and concisely, both written and verbal

Establish and maintain effective working relationships

Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Capacity to support and contribute to the Christian ethos of the College
