Posted 4 days ago
The Corangamite Catchment Management Authority (CMA) is a Victorian Government statutory authority whose role is to work with and support natural resource management agencies, Traditional Owners and local communities to improve sustainable land use, biodiversity and water resources management extending from Ballarat south through the Western District Lakes and Victorian Volcanic Plains including Colac and Geelong, through the Otway Ranges to the coast along the Great Ocean Road.
About the opportunity
The Integrated Water Management Officer is responsible for leading Corangamite Catchment Management Authority’s contribution to Integrated Water Management (IWM) planning, collaboration, and project delivery.
This dedicated role will strengthen the organisation’s strategic engagement in IWM Forums, support internal capacity building, and drive the integration of IWM practices across all CMA functions (including waterways, floodplain, coast and marine, biodiversity and land management programs).
The IWM Officer will operate as part of a statewide cohort of CMA IWM practitioners and participate in a peer network coordinated by the Statewide IWM Coordinator, with guidance and support from DEECA.
A particular focus of the role will be to proactively engage with all State, local government, and agency led strategic and large-scale statutory planning processes to advocate for IWM-related opportunities, and coordinate responses across relevant catchment partners to ensure those opportunities and any concerns are identified and managed as early as possible in planning processes.
The position also supports joint initiatives with other CMAs and partners to improve waterway health, community resilience, and cross-sector coordination.
The role is full time fixed term for four years as part of a specific but limited DEECA funding source. Applications for 0.8 FTE will also be considered. We offer flexible work arrangements and support working from home in combination with working from our main office in Colac and secondary office in Geelong.
Remuneration for the role is $95,780 - $106,966 per annum depending on experience plus superannuation.

Relevant tertiary qualifications in environmental planning, water or natural resource management, engineering, land use planning or a related field (mandatory).
Knowledge of integrated water management, stormwater management, or the water sector in Victoria (highly desirable).
Demonstrated experience working in strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, or collaborative project management.
