We don’t just need a manager. We need a leader — someone with grit, discipline, and a damn good attitude.

Travellers Autobarn is a global campervan rental brand — born in Australia, now rolling across New Zealand, Japan, and the U.S. Our Darwin branch is looking for a Branch Manager to take the wheel, and run the branch like it’s their own business.

This is not a desk job. It’s hands-on, fast-paced, and customer-focused. If you’re motivated, mechanically confident, and ready to step up, this is your launchpad to real leadership in an exciting tourism business. We’ll train and support you — but you need to show up ready to lead.

Who You Are:

You’ve got a positive, solution-first attitude — no excuses, just ownership.

You’re organised — lists, systems, and schedules are your thing.

You have strong attention to detail — van checks, team communication, cleanliness, everything.

You bring energy and lift morale — you make work feel like a team sport.

You lead by example — high standards, high trust, you are hands-on AND you delegate.

You’re handy and mechanically confident — you can turn a spanner and think on your feet.

What You’ll Do

Run the day-to-day operations of our Darwin branch — vehicles, people, and processes.

Train, coach, and lead a small team (2–3 direct reports in high season + contractors).

Own fleet presentation, cleaning oversight, safety, and maintenance readiness.

Deliver great customer service — and jump in yourself when needed.

Manage branch KPIs, maintenance records, local suppliers, and expenses.

Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment.

Drive local sales, up-sell add-ons, and support vehicle sales.

What You Bring

Must-Haves:

A valid driver’s licence.

Solid mechanical or handyman confidence — you’re not afraid of tools.

Strong communicator and natural team leader.

Comfort with computers, apps, and admin tasks.

OK working alone November - April as workload does not justify support staff onsite.

Bonus Points For:

Experience in automotive, rentals, tourism, or hospitality.

Team leadership or supervisory background.

A passion for travel, vans, and life on the road.

What You’ll Get

$65,000 base salary + super

Monthly commission on insurance, add-ons, and vehicle sales — no cap.

Monthly performance bonus May - October – up to $500

On-Target Earnings (OTE): $70,000+ (and that’s in your control — your results = your earnings)

Free annual international campervan hire

Company-paid mobile plan and access to campervan use (when available)

Full training, ongoing support, and a supportive global team

What This Isn’t

Not a desk job — you’ll be in the yard, on the floor, in the vans.

Not for clock-watchers — you set the pace and rhythm.

Not for babysitters — we want proactive, self-managing leaders.

How to Apply

Click Apply Now and submit your resume with a tailored cover letter addressed to Sam Cundall.

In your cover letter, tell us:

Why this role stood out to you

The hardest, messiest, most satisfying job you’ve done — and why you nailed it

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

About Travellers AutoBarn

Hendra, QLD, Australia

Travellers Autobarn opened in Sydney in late 1993, at a time when there were already a number of dealers selling cars to backpackers. However, these businesses were car dealerships first and foremost, and did not really understand the needs of travellers. From the outset, Travellers Autobarn focused entirely on these special needs. As ex-backpackers, all of us decided to provide the kind of service we would expect ourselves. What you see today is the result. None of the car dealers that were selling to backpackers in 1993 still exist today!

Travellers Autobarn knows Australia inside out – it’s our home! We also know cars and love our job. Basically, the idea of travelling around Australia by bus is simply out of the question. For most Aussies, not just the adventurous ones, but students, families and retirees, the only way to see Australia is by car.
