We are seeking a Control Centre Operator to join our System Monitoring Team within the Customer Delivery Division.

The System Monitoring Team provides oversight and control of all catchments, dam and network (water and wastewater) asset operations and utilises telemetry to remotely monitor and control major assets. The System Monitoring team within the Control Centre operates 24/7 to support the delivery of Hunter Water's essential services.

  • The role entails 35 hours of work over a fortnightly period

  • Full time equivalent base salary of up to $77,375 (pro-rated for part time hours) plus superannuation

The Opportunity

As the Control Centre Operator you will primarily be responsible for the daily monitoring of Hunter Water's assets and operations by using job management systems to initiate and process work undertaken by field staff. The roster pattern of this Control Centre Operator position is primarily for day work however there may be a requirement at times to work After-Hours.

What you'll do:

  • Monitoring performance of Hunter Water's assets through telemetry (SCADA) systems including triage and actioning alarms in accordance with response times.
  • Logging and issuing work to relevant personnel and providing assistance where necessary.
  • Monitor work in progress on AOMS and FSM and maintain the Hunter Water Outage Page to ensure customers are updated.
  • Distribute alarms at remote sites to relevant rostered personnel.
  • Complete handover in accordance with procedures.
  • Monitor Hunter Water's fleet vehicles via GPS to ensure staff safety.
  • Responding to enquiries from Corporation staff and contractors concerning system status and in response to any problems.
  • Providing operational support to Hunter Water stakeholders and customers 24/7.

What you'll need to be successful:

Essential Criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience working in a call centre, dispatch or equivalent industrial environment
  • Highly proficient in using MS Office including Outlook and Excel
  • Highly developed communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills with a proven commitment to providing excellent customer service and maintaining effective working relationships
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a high pressure and high-volume work environment
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Proven ability to maintain compliance with policies and procedures

Desirable Criteria:

  • Demonstrated work experience in a role/s that required the monitoring of assets and operations using telemetry and job management systems (i.e. AOMS, Ellipse, FSM, SCADA, GIS, SharePoint)
  • General knowledge of water industry business activities including the operation of assets
  • Experience using a two-way radio system within a call centre/dispatch environment
