Digital and Communications Lead

Alcohol, Tobacco and other Drugs Council of Tasmania

Part Time (.8 FTE), Hobart based, SCHADS Level 5. This role has a duration of 14 months and is a parental leave cover position.

Location: Hobart

Are you a communications all-rounder with a passion for people and purpose and just the right amount of geek? We're a small, progressive not-for-profit peak body leading sector change in Tasmania. We’re embarking on developing a new strategic plan in 2025-26 and also wanting to strengthen our digital presence. So we’re looking for someone to guide and grow our communications approach and digital voice while keeping it human.

This is a parental leave cover role—an exciting 14-month opportunity to maintain and in some cases reform our communications work, through the use of cutting edge tools, and help shape a digital communications culture that’s inclusive, ethical and practical.

As our Digital and Communications Lead, you'll:

Craft content and coordinate monthly e-newsletters and our social media, develop flagship documents and stakeholder comms.

Review and manage our website and online presence more generally with a sharp eye for clarity, consistency and connection.

Work with our staff (and in some cases support the sector) to upskill in simple, ethical and effective AI and digital tools. We are adopting a slow-and-steady digital transformation - no jargon, no hype, just useful stuff done well.

Coordinate the development of a new communications strategy, and work together with the team, to review our wider approach to advocacy.

This role is made for someone who is curious, creative and people-focused, someone who brings energy, and eye for detail alongside a heart to communications and change.

You're a great fit if you’re a natural communicator with experience in digital, comms, media and you know how to engage different audiences with clarity and authenticity. You’re optimistic about the role AI can play in our sector and can make it feel practical, not overwhelming. You're adaptable, proactive, and thrive in a small, purpose-driven team. Most importantly, you bring a reliability and grounded professionalism to everything you do. Bonus points if you’ve spent time in the not-for-profit or advocacy world and know how to speak the language.
