I'll set the scene;

An extremely well-run food manufacturing business sought me out 5 years ago to help with expansion. They had 2 stipulations for hiring.

1.) We want people who take initiative and build lasting relationships.

2.) Most of our people have been with us for 10 years or more and we value loyalty which runs both ways.

As we've worked more and more together to bring the right people in, the feedback I've had from those placed is they do look after their people and respect them like adults. It's important we establish that up front.

From a QA perspective;

They have expanded their production rooms and lines as they source new partnerships and opportunities across NSW and Australia. Resulting in more operators, greater volumes and a need to drive higher standards across quality control and customer liaison.

The demand for improved process and technical checking, creating more accountability with customers and production staff and communicating with sales around product launch, compliance issues etc...

There is lot you can do to raise the bar. And it's welcomed.

Your role here is essentially stand alone but you there is one technical assistant who is excellent with NPD, audit prep and other technical tasks. She will support you.

What We'll be Looking for in You:

Food science background with a stable career in technical QA leadership within food manufacturing.

Communication - evidence building strong external relationships with a healthy level of accountability.

Deep knowledge and application of HACCP, GMP, SQF and other essential governance around food production and supply.

Demonstrate a good understanding of how to build lasting relationships.

Some exposure to NPD would be useful but that can be taught as it isn't a significant part of the role.
