Position: Mount Gambier Medicare Mental Health Centre Peer Worker
Eligibility: Completion of or working towards Cert IV Mental Health Peer Work
Working Location: Mount Gambier, South Australia
Classification: Services Level 3
Job Status: 0.6 FTE
Pay (per annum): $72836 - $77988 (Pro-Rata + Superannuation + Leave Loading + Salary Packaging)

About the Role
Peer Support Workers provide compassionate and engaged communication from a perspective of lived or living experience of mental illness and recovery into relevant and meaningful information, resources and support for people entering, continuing, or re-visiting Mount Gambier Medicare Mental Health Centre.
The Peer Support Worker uses personal recovery expertise to support the growth of hope, self-advocacy, social connections and recovery strategies in the individuals, families and carers they work alongside of. They will championing a strengths-based approach to peer-led self-determined positions of personal wellness.
Working adjacent to clinical staff within Mount Gambier Medicare Mental Health Centre, the Peer Support Worker creates momentum within the flow of care, seamlessly linking people with internal and external services, elevating the voices of lived experience in mental health recovery while advocating for individuals needs and recovery goals. Social support structures and recovery skills are nurtured in a peer to peer learning environment built on common experience, mutual understanding, acceptance, and respect to facilitate recovery.
The successful candidate will be required to complete Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work as part of their induction.

The successful applicant will be remunerated in accordance with FocusOne Health’s Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA) dependent on skills, experience, and qualifications.
