About the Client

Working in an engaged, progressive and proud team led by a highly experienced and supportive Health, Safety and Wellbeing Leader, we are seeking a Manual Handling Co-ordinator to join a fun and well-respected team on a full-time permanent capacity.

About the Role

The Manual Handling Co-ordinator plays a vital role in the professional development and safe practices of Manual Handling. This role will work collaboratively with a Project team to deliver manual handling training programs and consultancy for dependent care requirements for complex patient care scenarios. The main focus of this role is to:

Develop, co-ordinate and facilitate Manual Handling Training programs for all staff across the hospital. This includes innovative design, implementation and evaluation frameworks for the programs;

Facilitate and/or Co-facilitate core manual handling programs for staff.

Facilitate and/or Co-facilitate the manual handling coaching assessors program to empower key staff to lead locally manual handling safe practices in their areas with their managers;

Support manual handling assessors to locally lead / assess manual handling safe practices for patients and staff;

Support managers to ensure manual handling strategies are in place to mitigate risk;

Working collaboratively with the Health and Safety Business Partners, Health and Safety Training Coordinator and Operations teams;

Undertake regular reviews of innovations in injury prevention, and consults on equipment purchases in conjunction with relevant stakeholders;

Undertake continuous improvement OHS projects in partnership with a collaborate and large OHS teams.

Skills and Qualifications

Degree in Nursing or Allied Health discipline - Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, etc.

Experience in Workplace Training and/ or a Cert IV in Training and Assessment.

Experience in coaching staff and influencing culture change in support of creating a positive safety culture.

Experience in undertaking manual handling risk assessment and patient clinical reviews associated with manual handling.

Demonstrated understanding of contemporary issues and directions of health services in relation to manual handling issues.

Experience in problem solving and risk management of manual handling issues. Experience in staff training – program development and delivery.
