Trainer and Assessor | Lifeline Crisis Support | Statewide
Employment Term: Permanent part-time opportunity (60.8 hours per fortnight)
Location: Statewide with work from home benefits
Remuneration: $97k + Super + NFP salary packaging of up to $15,900 & $2,650 for meals & entertainment

The Lifeline QLD Crisis Support and Suicide Prevention team, part of UnitingCare Family and Disability Services, is planning for growth! Lifeline is a trusted national charity that has been saving lives for 60 years. The national 13 11 14 Crisis Support service, Human Assisted Digital Crisis Support services (text and chat) and 13YARN Crisis Support Service offer support to people in crisis and emotional distress. There is an ever-increasing demand for support through these channels and Lifeline QLD needs a strong focus on training, support and retention of Crisis Supporters both paid staff and volunteers, to be able to meet demand.

Your part in our Lifeline team
In the Trainer and Assessor role, you will report to the State-wide Volunteer Engagement, Training and Compliance Service Lead and be responsible for delivering training outcomes that meet Lifeline Queensland’s state-wide needs, and that comply with Lifeline Australia’s RTO requirements (Training is delivered on behalf of Lifeline Australia RTO 88036).
You will deliver (predominantly online) the initial Crisis Supporter Workplace Training (CSWT) to our volunteers and assess competency. The role will also require you to support and develop a team of volunteer student mentors to support CSWT as well as holding a specialist portfolio within your skills and abilities.
What makes a difference for us?
The successful candidate will have a strong background in delivery of accredited training and have demonstrated experience working within a Crisis Support and Suicide Prevention service. Recent Lifeline Crisis Support and Training experience will be highly regarded.
Supplementing this you will present with the following:
Demonstrated experience in relation to increasing the safety of individuals at risk of suicide
Demonstrated experience in recognising and respond to crisis situations including how you have provided client-centred support to people in crisis.
Provide details of any professional development activities you have undertaken in the last 12 months to develop your VET skills and knowledge.
Demonstrated competency in training and development, in particular:
- achieving quality outcomes with skills-based training, and
- delivering online training via Zoom or Teams.
Demonstrated competency in crisis support, preferably as an accredited Lifeline Crisis Supporter.
Current positive notice Blue Card and Criminal History Record Check on appointment and every two years thereafter
An open QLD drivers licence
QUALIFICATIONS/LICENCES
Counselling Degree, Psychology or Social Work (must be approved by Lifeline Australia prior to commencing training)
TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
Essential
In addition to broad industry knowledge and experience, all CSWT VET Trainers and Assessors must hold vocational competencies in:
- CHCCCS003 Increase the safety of individuals at risk of suicide AND
- CHCCCS019 Recognise and respond to crisis situations AND
- CHCCCS028 Provide client-centred support to people in crisis
OR CHCSS00113 Crisis Support Skill Set
OR hold one of the below qualifications with ability to demonstrate vocational competency to the above listed Units of Competency at minimum:
- CHC42015 Certificate IV in Community Service
- CHC42021 Certificate IV in Community Services
