Remuneration: $77,183.80 - $82,329.39 per annum pro rata + superannuation + salary sacrifice
The Public Health Program Officer – Ageing is the primary point of contact for the Elder Care Support, and Greater Choices for At Home Palliative Care programs, ensuring that non-accredited training and support for workforce is coordinated and delivered to enable local workforce to support older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
In this role, you will coordinate workforce engagement activities, assist jurisdictional communication materials that align with the NACCHO communications framework, including Yarning Circles.
The position also provides broad and ongoing support and advice about CQI approaches to improving systems of care for the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHS) and providing public health information to AHCWA’s Member Services and external stakeholders in Western Australia.

About You
To be considered for this position, you must have:
- Possession of relevant health qualification (i.e. Public Health / Health Promotion / Aboriginal Health Practitioner or Worker / Registered Nurse).
- Demonstrated experience in the primary health care setting (e.g. Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHS), public health, health promotion, or clinical).
- Experience in, or willingness to learn about developing, delivering and/or facilitating training.
- Demonstrated understanding of the principles of person-centred care and trauma-informed practice.
- Well-developed ability to undertake action research to prepare, collate and organise data.
- Sound understanding of, or willingness to learn about the aged care system.
Ideally, in addition to be above, we are looking for someone who identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and is accepted as such by their community.
Please note: In addition to the above skills and experience, the successful candidate will require an unrestricted WA “C” Class Driver’s Licence, and be required to submit a National Police Clearance (dated within 3 months) prior to appointment. Applicants for this position must be legally entitled to work in Australia and will be required to provide evidence of this entitlement, such as an Australian passport or birth certificate.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
