About the Opportunity
Workforce Extensions is recruiting, on behalf of the Donald Project, for an Environmental Rehabilitation Superintendent to join the construction team. This key site-based role will ensure soil stripping, handling, and stockpiling activities comply with approved plans and procedures. This work is vital to long-term landform restoration and regulatory compliance.

About the Project
Donald Project Pty Ltd, a joint venture between Astron Corporation Ltd and Energy Fuels Inc., is developing the project, located near the towns of Minyip and Donald, and has recently received approval from the Victorian Government to commence construction. With a mine life extending to 2068 in Stage One, it is considered one of Australia's most significant rare earth and mineral sands resources.

Role Responsibilities

Health, Safety & Environment

  • Lead by example in fostering a positive health, safety, and environmental culture on site
  • Conduct safety checks, promote compliance, and support a zero-harm approach
  • Ensure all works meet internal standards and legislative requirements

Soil Management & Site Delivery

  • Coordinate and oversee pre-mining soil assessments and mapping of soil horizons
  • Supervise soil stripping and ensure correct placement of topsoil, subsoils, and overburden into defined stockpiles
  • Liaise with survey teams to ensure all soil layers are accurately recorded and tracked
  • Report regularly on soil condition, landform progress, and monitoring results

Contractor & Rehabilitation Management

  • Ensure contractors adhere to the Rehabilitation Plan, including the Soil Stripping and Stockpiling Procedure
  • Work closely with surveyors to ensure landform complies with the rehabilitation design throughout construction
  • Guide contractors during soil handling to optimise recovery quality and stockpile integrity
  • Verify soils are correctly stockpiled, individual soil horizons are accurately completed, surveyed, and records maintained
  • Monitor soil for pH and alkalinity during removal campaigns

About You
We're looking for someone who brings:

  • Significant experience in environmental management and rehabilitation in civil infrastructure or greenfield mining projects
  • Detailed understanding of the principles of soil and landform rehabilitation management
  • Knowledge of Victorian environmental legislation and compliance reporting
  • Confidence in supervising field-based activities and coordinating with contractors and surveyors
  • Attention to detail, a proactive mindset, and a passion for responsible land management

Why This Role Matters
This role is critical to the long-term environmental outcomes of one of Australia's most high-profile mining developments. Astron is focused on delivering progressive rehabilitation with care and transparency. Your leadership will help ensure that land disturbance is managed professionally and sustainably, and complies with internal requirements and external regulations.

Why Work With Us?

  • Join a nationally significant rare earths project during the construction phase
  • Help shape sustainable land management practices on a multi-decade operation
  • Be part of a professional team that values environmental integrity, safety, and technical excellence
  • Competitive salary and the opportunity to contribute to long-term outcomes
