The Indigenous Ranger position with Twin Creeks Rangers is an Aboriginal identified specific position based at Hidden Valley Estate, located 15 mins outside of Airlie Beach, in the Whitsunday's. Blue Jeep Investment Pty Ltd are seeking applicants with a willingness to learn specific skills to work on the land, demonstrate initiative and motivation to gain experience in moving into leadership positions, and possess a dedication to work within the Twin Creeks Ranger Program. The Ranger position involves working on Country with a dedicated team to develop and grow the Twin Creek Ranger Program to learn; water monitoring, fire management, fauna monitoring, weed management and other land and sea management processes as directed.

The role of the Ranger is to support Hidden Valley Estate and Gia Ngaro Traditional Owners aspiration to develop and implement a team of rangers to establish and sustain various activities for the long-term benefit of Gia Ngaro Traditional Owners within the Whitsundays. The Ranger Coordinator will provide leadership, supervision and training of the Twin Creeks Rangers at Hidden Valley Estate on Gia Ngaro Country in land and sea management. This includes a range of activities relating to conservation and land management, construction and maintenance of infrastructure, visitor risk management, support of tourism and recreational activities and management of cultural values through bush tucker identification, propagation and language.

A requirement of this position is to undertake a Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management, which includes travel to attend TAFE blocks, and gain related on-site work skills by working under the support, guidance and supervision of the Twin Creek Ranger Coordinator at sites across Hidden Valley Estate. The position offers a competitive salary, training, support, cultural mentoring and guidance from staff at Hidden Valley Estate.

We’re seeking strong applicants, capable of working with a dedicated team with a passion for working on Country. Ideally, you will bring or are willing to gain:

Experience or interest in working on country and ability to participate in manual activities related to conservation, land and sea management, including maintenance of infrastructure, support of tourism and recreational activities, flora and fauna protection and conservation of cultural values.

Ongoing willingness and ability to participate in fire management activities that contribute to bushfire suppression and prescribed burning operations commensurate with capability, capacity, training and level of experience.

Good communication skills and be able to work well in a team and without supervision.

Undertake Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management, completing all assessments, workbooks as required for successful completion of Certificate. Travel will be required to attend TAFE units at Bowen, Mackay or Townsville.

Willingness to participate with a culturally approved mentor, social and emotional wellbeing program with Gia Ngaro Cultural Advisor.

Ability and willingness to learn to operate all on site machinery and heavy equipment such as brush cutters and common maintenance tools as directed.

Willingness and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Essential is a current Driver's license.
