The Faculty has a strong teaching focus, a dynamic research culture and a commitment to social justice and inclusion. The Faculty of Law operates on the City (Haymarket) campus. Anti-Slavery Australia (ASA) is a Centre of the UTS Faculty of Law dedicated to addressing all forms of modern slavery in Australia, including forced marriage. The Centre provides free, confidential legal and migration assistance to people affected by modern slavery, and has an active research, policy development and social justice focus. With funding from the Australian government, ASA established and runs My Blue Sky (mybluesky.org.au) - the first national information, advice and referral service for forced marriage - and engages in community education and awareness-raising on forced marriage through its national 'Speak Now' project. About the Role Anti-Slavery Australia has been funded by the Australian government to deliver targeted education and awareness-raising initiatives on forced marriage to vulnerable communities across Australia in 2025-26. The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for developing collaborative relationships with target communities; coordinating community engagement activities and supporting their monitoring and evaluation; and coordinating a team of lived experience/community trainers in the development and delivery of educational community events and resources. The position may require occasional interstate travel, including to regional and rural locations across Australia. If successful in applying for this role, you will be responsible for: • Developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with community leaders, organisations, and individuals with lived experience of forced marriage across Australia.• Representing ASA and My Blue Sky at outreach events aligned with the Centre's strategic priorities.• Coordinating and supporting lived experience/community trainers in delivering rights-based education on forced marriage, including training them in trauma-informed practices and community engagement.• Organising and delivering educational initiatives (e.g. workshops, presentations, outreach events) tailored to the needs and strengths of target communities.• Contributing to monitoring and evaluation through data collection, feedback coordination, and drafting project progress reports.• Developing and sharing accessible, culturally appropriate educational materials for communities, frontline workers, and stakeholders. With examples, please outline within your Cover Letter, how you meet the following key selection criteria: 1. Excellent organisational, analytical and communication (oral and written) skills.2. Excellent teamwork and stakeholder engagement skills.3. Knowledge of modern slavery and forced marriage, particularly in community contexts in Australia. Additional knowledge of related issues, such as family and domestic violence, gender-based violence, honour-based violence, sexual violence and child abuse, is desirable.4. Knowledge of culturally sensitive, trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches to training and engagement.5. Experience in developing, implementing and evaluating community programs and/or projects.6. Experience in developing and delivering presentations and training.
Remuneration
Base Salary Range: $97,332 - $105,385 pa (HEW 6) (Pro-rata) This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary. This position is part time (FTE 0.8, 4 days a week) and appointment will be made on a fixed term basis until 30 June 2026.
