ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated person to work for Narang Bir-rong Aboriginal Corporation (Narang Bir-rong). Narang Bir-rong provides Family Support Services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Families in Western Sydney, Nepean Blue Mountains, Northern Sydney/Eastern Sydney/Sydney and connected communities as well as Out of Home Care placements for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people who cannot remain at home due to abuse and/or neglect.

We work a 35-hour week, which means you are flexible with your working hours and work a 7- hour day between 8am – 6pm with a 30-minute lunch break. This could mean you start at 9:30am and finish at 5pm or start at 9am and finish at 4:30pm!

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Carer Recruitment & Support Worker is responsible for recruiting, assessing, training and supporting Aboriginal Out of Home carers (including relative and kin, foster, respite and emergency). It is the aim of the Carer Recruitment Team to have a pool of carers sufficient in number to be able to meet the needs of children coming into the program to be matched appropriately.

NBAC PAY SCALES (ABOVE AWARD WAGE)

CW/S6 to CW/S14

Total Package Value up to $108,843.24 (Package includes leave loading and Superannuation, and is dependent on experience)

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Aboriginality is a genuine qualification under the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.

Current NSW driver's license and use of a registered and insured passenger vehicle.

Probity checks including NSW Working with Children’s check & National Police Check

Evidence of at least two COVID-19 Vaccinations.

Qualifications in Community Services (or related field) or relevant experience.

Knowledge of issues pertaining to the Stolen Generation and transgenerational trauma.

Knowledge of issues surrounding abuse and neglect of children and the impact of trauma and children protection or a related area of alternate care for children (desirable).

Demonstrated experience conducting carer assessments and designing and delivering training, information and support to carers.

Capacity to develop and deliver marketing strategies for the recruitment of carers.

Experience in working in partnership with Community Services and other services/agencies to ensure positive outcomes for children, young people and their carers.

High level of oral and written communication skills, demonstrated report writing and presentation skills and use of Microsoft office programs including word, excel, PowerPoint, etc.

Mature outlook, varied professional and general life experience.
