Food for Health Alliance (FHA) is a partnership between Cancer Council Victoria, VicHealth, Healthway and the Global Centre for Preventive Health and Nutrition at Deakin University. It is a leading national policy and advocacy voice working to improve diets and prevent overweight and obesity. FHA advocates for evidence-based changes to how food is made, labelled, marketed and sold through comprehensive legal, regulatory, and policy solutions.

About your opportunity

The position is based in the Food for Health Alliance, in the Prevention Division of Cancer Council Victoria. Reporting to the Executive Manager of FHA your role is to:

  • Conduct comprehensive research and analysis on policy issues relevant to the food regulatory system
  • Manage key stakeholder relationships, including health, community and academic organisations, to develop policy or advocacy positions and generate opportunities for collaboration
  • Provide strategic advice and recommendations on obesity policy advocacy strategies, including campaign and media advocacy strategies.
All about you

We are looking for someone with:

  • Tertiary degree in public policy, law, economics, political science, public health or related discipline
  • Substantial experience in a relevant policy role
  • Proven ability to conduct high quality policy research and analysis
  • Strong stakeholder and relationship management skills, including working with government, non-government agencies and the health sector

  • Base salary of $99,648 to $116,882 p.a. (dependant on experience, pro rata for part time) plus superannuation (Superannuation paid in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee (Administration) Act 1992 (Cth).
