About the Role

Striving Ability Support Service Pty Ltd is a family-owned, family-oriented not-for-profit organisation, proudly working alongside Good Directions to co-create a participant-owned workplace model where disability support is truly built around the needs, goals, and choices of the individual participant.

We are currently seeking male Support Workers to provide tailored and consistent support for a 12-year-old boy with Autism. This is a unique opportunity to work within the family home, delivering strength-based and trauma-informed support with a small, dedicated team.

There are multiple positions available, including overnight and weekend shifts, with an immediate start for the right candidates.

Please note: This is a male-only position, as permitted under the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic) – Section 28 – due to the specific support and personal care needs of the participant.

Key Responsibilities

Provide calm, consistent support in-home and in the community

Assist with emotional regulation, routines, and capacity-building tasks

Engage the participant in structured activities and community outings

Support school transitions and therapeutic interventions

Follow established behaviour support plans and collaborate with allied health

Maintain respectful communication and accurate documentation

Shifts Available

We are currently looking to fill the potential support shifts:

Monday to Friday mornings – 7:00am to 9:00am

Afternoons – 1:30pm to 8:00pm OR 2:30pm to 8:00pm

Weekends – 9:00am to 6:00pm (Saturday & Sunday)

Overnight support – 2 to 4 nights per week (sleepover or active as required)

School holidays – Daytime and extended hour support

Please include your availability when applying. Multiple roles are available to build a stable and consistent support team.

About You

You are calm under pressure, reliable, and confident in supporting neurodivergent children or young people with complex needs. You are also someone who:

Has a minimum of 1 year experience working directly with children or teens with disabilities (mandatory)

Has a keen interest in sport, enjoys being outdoors, and thrives in active, hands-on environments

Loves driving through the bush, and ideally has a passion for 4WDing and off-road adventures

Brings a trauma-informed, person-centred support style

Can set clear boundaries and manage behaviours with consistency and professionalism

Is flexible and available across mornings, afternoons, weekends, overnights, and school holidays

Mandatory Requirements – Applications will only be considered if you have:

Minimum 1 year experience supporting children or teens with disabilities

NDIS Worker Screening Check (valid)

Victorian Working With Children Check (WWCC)

First Aid Certificate including CPR (valid)

Completed NDIS Orientation Module & Core Modules

Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle with full insurance and able to show employer these documents

Desirable

Certificate III or IV in Disability, Youth Work, Mental Health or similar

Previous in-home support experience with children with complex needs

Familiarity with positive behaviour support approaches
