A leading Federal Government agency in the disability sector is seeking an experienced Site Reliability Engineer (Squad Lead) for an initial 12-month contract, with strong potential for a 12-month extension. This Perth-based role offers a flexible hybrid work model (3 days in-office, 2 days WFH). Australian Citizenship is mandatory to meet NV1 security clearance requirements.
About the Role
As the Lead Service Reliability Engineer, you'll head up a squad of reliability professionals focused on enhancing system availability, performance, and efficiency. You'll work closely with developers, infrastructure teams, and key stakeholders to ensure the delivery of resilient, robust services. This role also includes contributing to the strategic goals of a forward-looking national program that supports the wellbeing of Australians.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of engineers to ensure reliable, scalable, and high-performing services
- Oversee incident response and implement ongoing service improvements
- Align technical delivery with strategic objectives in collaboration with senior stakeholders
- Drive enhancements in monitoring, automation, and engineering standards
- Mentor team members and foster a culture of technical excellence
Key Skills & Experience:
- Experience with monitoring tools like Dynatrace or Splunk
- Proficiency in scripting (e.g. SPL, SQL, Python, DQL)
- Cloud experience across AWS and Azure
- Proven ability to lead technical teams in SRE or infrastructure operations
- Strong incident management and root cause analysis skills
- Ability to define and enforce engineering standards and governance
Desirable:
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to influence both technical and non-technical audiences
