About The Role

We are looking for a passionate and community-minded individual to join our team as a Feeding Queensland Kids Community Food Coordinator in Ipswich. Reporting to the FQK Partnerships Manager at Foodbank Queensland, the role will operate within the Ipswich community based at local host organisation. This is a unique opportunity to support local communities in creating lasting solutions to food insecurity.

The Feeding Queensland Kids (FQK) initiative is a collaborative effort led by Foodbank Queensland, Second Bite / FareShare, and OzHarvest to tackle food insecurity. With First Nations engagement and centralising community perspectives at its core, the initiative supports Gununa/Mornington Island, Ipswich, and Bundaberg by funding practical solutions for immediate relief and long-term systems change. Using a community-led, place-based approach, FQK invests in capacity building and food solution projects through grants.

This role is funded for 14 months and is central to engaging and coordinating the Feeding Queensland Kids (FQK) initiative in Ipswich. You will help bring people together to support food equity, working alongside community groups, local organisations, Traditional Owners and Custodians and people in the Ipswich community. Both part time applicants working 4 days a week, and part time applicants willing to job share will be considered.

What You’ll Do

  • Work with the community to design and implement food programs that address local needs.
  • Support and coordinate the Community Food Working Group, ensuring community voices are heard and drive decision-making.
  • Build strong relationships with local organisations, food relief providers, government agencies, and food suppliers.
  • Promote and support community groups in applying for grants to fund food programs and projects.
  • Help community groups carry out their grant-funded projects by connecting them to services, food suppliers, and other resources.
  • Facilitate workshops and public forums, helping to grow awareness and engagement in food equity initiatives.
  • Gather community stories and data to share the impact of the FQK initiative.

Who You Are

  • Passionate about food security, community-led solutions, and First Nations engagement.
  • Experienced in community-based roles, preferably in a not-for-profit environment, with an understanding of systems change theory.
  • Skilled at building and maintaining relationships with local community stakeholders, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander groups, culturally and linguistically diverse groups, schools, Elders, neighbourhood centres, food suppliers, food relief providers, not-for-profit organisations, and local government.
  • Knowledgeable in grants management and able to support community groups with grant applications.
  • Confident in facilitation and public speaking, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and able to handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, capable of preparing briefs, agendas, and reports.
  • Highly organised and able to work independently, adapting to changing priorities.
  • Willing to occasionally travel to Brisbane and regional and remote Queensland to share learnings and best practices for the initiative.
  • Holder of a current Australian driver's licence (or ability to obtain one).
  • Able to obtain a Working with Children’s Check, funded by Foodbank Queensland.
