About the role
Temporary Fulltime opportunity up to September 2026.
To effectively develop, coordinate, and manage planning policy projects that will meet Council’s vision and Delivery Project objectives. To provide guidance, both within, and outside Council, that reflects Council’s aspirations and goals, and responds to the issues and challenges which are important to the City.
Essential criteria
- Tertiary qualification in urban/town planning or related discipline and/or extensive job-related experience.
- Demonstrated experience in the formulation and implementation of land-use planning policy.
- Proven ability to establish, coordinate and/or operate with multi-disciplinary teams
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated experience with stakeholder and community engagement
- Strong analytical, project management and organisational skills
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage competing tasks, meet deadlines and achieve targets
- Current Class C driver licence
Desirable criteria
- Experience working in a local government environment
- Experience in rapid growth area planning/management
- Demonstrated experience in projects requiring a high level of urban design outcomes
Salary: $107,058.00 - $123,924.00 p.a, + 12% Superannuation
Access to a Motor Vehicle Allowance is available with this position; however, it is not a condition of employment.
You will be required to undertake employment checks, which may include a Criminal History Check, Qualification Check, Working with Children Check, Medical Declaration and/or a Functional Test, as relevant to the position for which you have applied. Where a Criminal History Check is required and has returned a result that indicates disclosable court outcomes, you will be required to provide a copy of the report to Penrith City Council, for review, in order to progress through the recruitment process.

The City Planning department is responsible for coordinating long term planning for the City. We deliver a range of programs and services including the development of long term land use planning strategies and policies, city planning, regional planning and place-based planning projects.
