As a Forklift Operator in our Scrap Metal Yard, you will be at the heart of our operations, ensuring that our processes run smoothly and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate forklifts to transport scrap metal materials throughout the yard.
• Load and unload materials onto trucks and trailers as required.
• Assist in organizing and maintaining inventory in the yard.
• Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of the forklift to ensure safe operation at all times.
• Collaborate with the yard team to enhance operational efficiency.
• Comply with all health and safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
• Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the supervisor promptly.
  
  Qualifications

• Valid forklift operator certification and experience in operating forklifts within an industrial setting, preferably in scrap metal or similar environments.
• Strong commitment to safety practices and awareness.
• Ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment.
• Excellent spatial awareness and attention to detail.
• Physical capability to perform job tasks including lifting and moving objects.
• Flexibility to work in various weather conditions and willingness to work overtime and weekends if required.
  
  Day-to-Day
• Begin the day with team huddles to discuss daily objectives and safety updates.
• Conduct pre-use inspections of the forklift and report any issues to the maintenance team.
• Maneuverer forklift to load and unload trucks with scrap materials.
• Coordinate with team members to move and organise various scrap metal items in designated areas.
• Monitor and update inventory lists as materials are moved and processed.
• Attend to other yard tasks, including cleaning and maintenance, as directed by supervisors.
• End the day with equipment shutdown routines and documentation of daily operations and any anomalies encountered.
