At the forefront of genetic testing and diagnostics, the Victorian Clinical Genetics Services (VCGS) is committed to delivering high-quality, timely results that improve patient outcomes. Supporting this mission is our Laboratory Services Unit, home to the dedicated Customer Care Group—a dynamic team providing essential pre- and post-analytical support to our laboratories.

We're looking for a motivated, detail-focused Customer Care Operator to join our administrative team and help ensure the smooth delivery of vital testing services to clinicians and patients across the country.

About the Role

As a Customer Care Operator, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operations of the Laboratory Services Unit. From handling high volumes of inbound enquiries to assisting with critical data entry and administrative tasks, this role is central to our mission of service excellence.

Working within a multidisciplinary team—including Call Centre, Data Entry, Specimen Reception—you'll ensure timely, accurate, and compassionate support is provided to practitioners, clinics, and patients.

VCGS operates Monday - Friday (7am - 7pm) and you will be assigned a shift within times with some flexibility.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Handle incoming calls and emails from healthcare professionals and patients with professionalism and efficiency
  • Assist in high-volume data entry, ensuring patient data is accurate and up-to-date
  • Manage requests for test results and reports in line with laboratory release protocols
  • Provide administrative support across areas such as report distribution, form review, and basic stock ordering

What we need from you:

  • Excellent communication skills and a professional phone manner
  • Fast, accurate data entry skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Confidence using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook; Labware/LIMS experience a bonus
  • Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and meet deadlines in a high-volume setting
  • Experience in a Customer service role and/or experience in Healthcare Service Industry with an understanding of related issues with the environment is advantageous
