The Role:
As a Program Coordinator of a Domestic and Family Violence Refuge with St Vincent de Paul Society QLD, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the refuge's operations through a strengths-based, client-centred, and trauma-informed approach. In this position, you will be responsible for the comprehensive management and daily operational oversight of the program.
Key responsibilities will include ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of services, achieving program outcomes, and supervising staff performance in your team. Other key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Program Management: Oversee the daily operations of the refuge, ensuring that services are delivered efficiently and effectively to meet the needs of clients
- Staff Supervision: Manage and support the refuge staff, providing leadership, mentoring, and regular feedback
- Client Support: Manage and support refuge staff to provide practical and emotional support to clients, helping them navigate their immediate crisis and plan for the future
- Policy Compliance: Ensure that all operations comply with relevant funding guidelines, legislative requirements, and organisational policies and procedures
- Quality Improvement: Regularly evaluate client care and service provision, focusing on improving client outcomes and enhancing the quality of services
- Financial Oversight: Monitor and review financial expenditure, maintaining oversight of all aspects of business operations and addressing issues related to expenditure and viability
- Administrative Duties: Handle tasks such as reporting, documentation, and rostering - ensuring compliance with employment agreements and legislative requirements
The Program Coordinator will ensure that the refuge provides a safe, supportive and effective environment for individuals affected by domestic and family violence while upholding the mission and values of St Vincent de Paul Society.
This is a Permanent, Full-Time (38 hours per week) based in Gold Coast.
About You:
To be successful in the role, you will meet the following criteria:
- Tertiary Qualification in Community Services or relevant field
- Previous industry experience in program coordination, particularly in a domestic and family violence context, working with clients in crisis including holistic person-centred case management frameworks
- Demonstrated program coordination and leadership skills, including human resources and financial management, quality assurance, risk management and reporting
- Strong leadership skills to manage and support staff effectively
- Ability to provide empathetic and compassionate support to clients in crisis
- Excellent communication skills to interact with clients, staff, and external stakeholders
- Ability to problem solve and assess situations quickly to develop appropriate support plans
- Competent skills in the use of technology with sound IT skills – Microsoft applications, databases
- Knowledge of and ability to work within relevant funding guidelines and legislative requirements relating to the delivery of program outcomes and safety and risk
- Class C Drivers’ Licence is required
- The successful candidate will be required to hold a current Blue Card
