PPG are currently seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to drive consistent and continuous improvement in EHS practices at our Clayton paint manufacturing site. Reporting to the Clayton EHS Manager, the successful candidate will drive consistent and continuous improvement in Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) practices and standards whilst developing best practice in safety and operations through inspection, audit, investigation and corrective action.

In addition, the successful candidate will support the implementation of workplace environmental, health and safety management systems and related initiatives by working with various stakeholders at the Clayton site to create an injury free workplace.

Responsibilities

Support the implementation of the site’s EHS policies, procedures and risk management strategies, whilst liaising with Site Leadership Team and various stakeholders

Maintain and coordinate compliance with all of Clayton’s site licenses, agreements and all applicable legislative requirements, including but not limited to the Dangerous Goods Licence, EPA Licence, Trade Waste Agreement and ISO14001 accreditation

Maintain the EHS Training Program for Clayton site in conjunction with the site EHS manager and various area managers. Coordinate EHS Training to completion

Ensuring legal reporting obligations are met

Assist with the review of incident reporting database

Continuously improve the site’s EHS Management system conformance to PPG Corporate requirements through internal audits, including the creation and review of procedures, in addition to driving corrective action closure

Lead and facilitate the risk assessments at the Clayton site as required

Skills and Experience

Tertiary qualification in OHS, Engineering or in Science (Mechanical, Chemical or Environmental will be an advantage)

Ideally suited to a candidate with 3-5 years' experience in an EHS role

Strong influencing and effective communication skills to interact with senior management, shop floor personnel, regulatory agencies, external contractors and emergency services

Practical industry experience in EHS disciplines is required

A working knowledge of relevant Acts, including OHS Act, Environment Protection Act, Regulations and Codes of Practices.

Experience in a Manufacturing Industry will be an advantage
