About the role:

You will support our Swim School Coordinator in the day-to-day delivery of swimming classes at the Y Learning and Swim venue, including providing support to the broader team. Your role will involve a combination of swimming instruction for infants through school-age children, as well as providing administrative support.

You will have a passion for swimming and a commitment to the progression of students. You should be energetic, dynamic, outgoing and fun, with a flair for working with children. You will need outstanding communication skills and a commitment to customer service excellence to ensure that swim school members, patrons, and parents are gaining maximum benefit and enjoyment from the services provided.

As the successful applicant, you will need to demonstrate your ability to communicate and interact effectively with students from diverse age groups, abilities, cultures, and needs.

The role is a permanent part-time position, offering 20 hours per week.

We offer a competitive hourly rate, starting at $32.34 per hour.

What do you need to be successful – “The Essentials”

Teacher of Swimming & Water Safety qualification – Course Code SISSS00112

Pool Lifeguard – Course Code SISSS00133 (or willingness to obtain)

Current CPR & First Aid Certificate – Course Code HLTAID012

Aquatic Technical Operator Certificate – (or willingness to obtain) - Course Code SISSS00011

Previous experience as a swimming teacher and/or coaching, mentoring and inspiring others to achieve their goals.

Strong verbal and written communications skills, including well-developed emotional intelligence, to engage with parents and learners appropriately.

Demonstrated commitment to customer service excellence.

Strong organisational, initiative, and problem-solving skills to meet the daily administrative challenges of the role.

The ability to lead and work as part of a team

The ability to build trusting relationships with children so that their learning is positive and ongoing.
