Ultra therapy is looking for occupational therapists who are looking for full-time/part-time and/or contractor roles. U therapy is a fast growing, and competitive business that provides specialised occupational therapy services to NDIS participants with a range of disabilities. Tasks & responsibilities
- Working with a diverse range of designated participants utilising a referral-based service model.
- Comprehensive Assessment of the participants functional capacity to independently participate in activities of daily living (self-care), and instrumental activities of daily living including home and community activities, learning and education, employment, play and recreation.
- Working collaboratively with participants, their families and treating team to achieve their set goals i.e., developing living skills, engagement in social and community-based activities, return to work or study goals, developing social and communication skills etc.
- Complete NDIS specific requirements including Service Agreements and NDIA reports.
- Utilise standardised assessment tools and provide occupational therapy interventions to assist in better outcomes for participants.
- Providing mental health specific interventions such as suicide risk assessment, mental state exam, distress tolerance skills and anxiety and/or stress management strategies, early warning signs of relapse (relapse prevention), psychoeducation, occupational counselling and trauma informed care.
- Identification and recommendation of assistive equipment and/or resources to enhance engagement in Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and to achieve goals.
- Liaising with relevant parties to co-ordinate care i.e., support coordinators, support workers, other allied health disciplines, medical professionals, community mental health teams etc.
- Document and create reports on participant services using technology and paper-based systems in a clear, logical, understandable and timely way.
Qualifications & experience
- Degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy.
- Ideally a minimum of 2 years of previous experience working with children, adults, care givers and families in the disability sector, and ability to communicate effectively with children, young people and adults.
- Eligibility for membership as an occupational therapist with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulations Agency (AHPRA).
- Current drivers’ license, Police check and Working with Children check.
- Willingness to learn about the National Disability Insurance Scheme including Practice Standards, NDIS Operational Guidelines and requirements under Quality and Safeguards Commission.
- Commitment to gain a sound understanding of Section 34 of the NDIS Act (2013) as well as keeping updated with changes in NDIS guidelines.
- Willingness to work collaboratively and co-operatively with the Director and the team, including participation in quality assurance procedures.
- Ability to apply evidence informed practice to optimise outcomes, and high levels of motivation to provide high quality professional services.
- Advanced Well-developed organizational, planning and time management skills, high level written and verbal communication skills, and high level of professionalism.
- Ability to travel is an essential requirement of the position as is the ability to work across different working environments such as participant homes, schools, day programs and computer-based and literacy skills i.e., word, excel, outlook.
