About Us

At GCLA, we’re more than just a not-for-profit organization—we’re a team driven by purpose and guided by values. Since 1977, we’ve been enriching lives and fostering a sense of belonging across the Gladstone community.

Our High Intensity Supported Independent Living Services (SILS) provide specialised care to individuals with complex needs, helping them live with independence, dignity, and choice. We’re committed to providing exceptional care and empowering individuals to achieve their goals while creating a supportive, inclusive environment for our staff to thrive.

About the Role

As a Support Worker in our High Intensity SILS, you will play a vital role in providing person-centred care for individuals with complex health needs. You’ll work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to create a safe, supportive, and empowering environment for the individuals you support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality care tailored to the individual needs of participants.
  • Assist with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks.
  • Support participants with complex health and behavioural requirements, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Implement individualised support plans and behaviour management strategies.
  • Administer medications and support participants with health-related tasks, following policies and procedures.
  • Foster independence, social connection, and meaningful engagement in the community.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records, ensuring compliance with organisational and regulatory standards.

Please note: This role is based in a 24/7 supported living house, and staff will be required to work on a rotational 24/7 roster. This includes mornings, evenings, overnights, weekends, and public holidays.

Every day, you’ll have the chance to create meaningful connections and help our participants achieve their goals.

About You

You are a compassionate and reliable individual with a genuine passion for helping others. Your experience in disability or aged care settings, combined with your ability to remain calm under pressure, makes you a strong fit for this role.

Key Criteria:

  • Experience supporting individuals with high-health or complex care needs (preferred).
  • A Certificate III or IV in Disability, Community Services, or a related field (or willingness to obtain).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
  • Understanding of person-centred care and behaviour management principles.

Essential Requirements:

  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications.
  • NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or willingness to obtain).
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (as per government requirements).

  • Salary Packaging
  • 2 x Your Days per annum
  • Discount at a local Pilates provider
  • Competitive salary and benefits.
