Finance & Payroll Officer – APY Art Centre Collective
Join one of Australia’s most dynamic Indigenous-led art collectives and make a real impact.
The APY Art Centre Collective (APYACC) is a thriving Not-For-Profit, owned and governed by Aboriginal artists across the APY Lands. Our mission is to create sustainable employment and income opportunities through world-class art. We operate vibrant galleries in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, with a growing network of regional art centres.
We’re seeking a detail-driven Finance & Payroll Officer who thrives in a fast-paced, values-driven environment. This is a rare opportunity to combine your finance skills with a role that celebrates culture, creativity and community impact.
Why Join Us?
Be part of a nationally recognised, Indigenous-led social enterprise.
Work embedded within a supportive, collaborative office-based team – this is not a remote role. You’ll enjoy daily interaction with colleagues and artists in a vibrant studio environment.
Enjoy salary packaging benefits, staff discounts on artwork, and on-site parking.
Receive training and ongoing support in a culturally rich, team-oriented setting.
Grow your career – this role will expand as we continue to scale.
What You’ll Do
Reporting to the Finance & Corporate Services Manager, you will play a key role in managing day-to-day financial operations, payroll and artist payments across APYACC and three regional art centres. This position is fully integrated into the office workflow and requires onsite presence at our Thebarton studio, providing hands-on support to both finance and operations teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Process payroll, superannuation and entitlements in compliance with Awards and legislation.
Manage weekly artist payments – supporting the “money story” for remote art centres.
Maintain Accounts Payable and Receivable ledgers.
Reconcile bank accounts and assist with month-end and year-end reporting.
Prepare BAS, PAYG and other statutory returns.
Support audit preparation and financial compliance.
Provide back-up support to the finance team and assist front-of-house when required.
What We’re Looking For
Experience: 2–4 years in finance, payroll or bookkeeping.
Qualifications: Cert IV in Bookkeeping/Accounting (or working towards) or relevant degree.
Proficiency in MYOB and Excel is essential.
Strong attention to detail, time management and ability to work autonomously within a team-focused environment.
Excellent communication skills – comfortable working with diverse teams and communities.
Experience in the Not-For-Profit or Indigenous sector is highly regarded.
Please note: This is an onsite role located at our Thebarton office. While we value flexibility where possible, the nature of this position means there is limited capacity for remote work.
Benefits
Competitive salary plus tax-free salary packaging.
Inclusive, values-driven workplace.
Opportunity to contribute to one of Australia’s most successful First Nations social enterprises.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply.
