Job Title: Data Engineer
Location: Perth, WA
Contract term: 12 months. Temporary casual contract (no leave entitlements – casual loading included in rate)
About the Program
The program has been established by the our state government client to deliver a technologically robust and functionally fit solution to replace the current school information system. The Program aims to enhance school financial and budgetary management through a phased rollout.
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to support the optimisation of data processes during the rollout of the program. This role will be instrumental in developing migration databases and systems to store, move, and display data throughout the transition.
You will work within a complex system integration environment and contribute across IT development, data migration, cloud infrastructure, and operational tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct complex data analysis for troubleshooting and assessment.
- Build and maintain data solutions using AWS and Python.
- Develop and optimise data migration pipelines using SQL, ETL/ELT, and scripting (Bash/PowerShell).
- Support auto-reconciliation processes and system integration tasks.
- Perform additional duties as directed by the Program team.
Required Skills & Experience
- TechnologyOne DSL
- Visual Basic (FMT development)
- Education or Finance domain knowledge
- Minimum 5+ years in data engineering or similar roles, with strong experience in data migration and quality reporting.
- Proficiency in AWS, Python, SQL, and ETL/ELT tools.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in troubleshooting complex data issues.
- Experience with Bash and/or PowerShell scripting.
