About your new role

The position will work closely with all units within Work Health and Safety branch of the Strategy People and Performance department as well as other internal and external customers and stakeholders.

The position assists with operational WHS planning and overseeing the implementation of corporate WHS strategies and initiatives relating to electrical safety.

Key Deliverables of the position:

• Develop and maintain a city-wide Electrical Safety (ES) framework aligned with the WHS management system and formal asset management systems/practices.
• Provide input in electrical safety risk assessments and the control of electrical safety risk/s.
• Plan and implement an electrical safety audit and assurance program.
• Lead or facilitate electrical safety investigations.
• Provide input into electrical safety design.
• Oversee effective close of corrective actions relating to electrical safety.
• Facilitate the development and sharing of electrical safety lessons learnt.
• Develop improvement programs.
• Report progress on electrical safety / electrical worker safety programs.
• Support contracting processing including tender evaluations of electrical contracts or contracts involving electrical risk/s.
• Oversight and monitoring of control of work processes, including electrical safe systems of work.
• Raise awareness and advise directorate personnel on electrical safety matters.
• Communicate, consult and cooperate with stakeholders with respect to electrical safety.
• Provide oversight of contractor’s management of electrical safety.
• Participate in contract practical completion to ensure electrical safety compliance including handover documentation and records for long-term management of the electrical requirements of the asset.
• Liaise with QLD Electrical Safety Officers as required.
• Attend various steering committees where electrical safety input is needed.

We're looking for people who have:
• You hold qualifications in Electrical Engineering or a relevant field with significant demonstrable experience relevant to the role
• Experience in leading incident investigations
• Demonstrated experience in developing, reviewing, evaluating and auditing WHS Management Systems
• Certified Safety Management Systems Lead Auditor
• High level of people management skills, with strong influencing, interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to run meetings, facilitate groups and prepare effective written reports and project plan
• High level of effective analytical and problem-solving skills
• Drivers licence class C unrestricted
