About the Role

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Safety Advisor to join our team. This role is Brisbane based and reports to the National Safety Manager.

As our Senior Safety Advisor, you'll work closely with the frontline leadership team and drivers to ensure a safe working environment for all Watco Team Members, while coaching our frontline leaders on rail and WHS regulations, enhancing safety systems, and conducting infield safety interactions and observations.

You will need the ability to:

Review, improve and develop safety systems and processes in conjunction with leaders and the broader team.

Support development of a culture that proactively identifies and addresses hazards and utilises a risk-based approach in everything we do.

Work with leaders to undertake incident investigations, identification of root cause and implementation of effective solutions.

Assist with Alcohol & Other Drug Program (AOD) and co-ordinate associated processes including but not limited to required AOD testing programs, including random testing processes.

Develop and deliver training programs as required.

Assist with the coordination of Safety Committee meetings and Toolbox Talks.

Monitor and assist with the co-ordination of Workers Compensation and Injury Management as required.

Work with external parties to ensure safety systems are at the required standard.

Contribute to Safety Interface Management activities and assurances.

What you will bring

Minimum of Cert IV WHS or equivalent relevant qualification or demonstrable industry experience.

Experience in an operational rail environment or similar highly regulated industry.

Lead Auditor Qualifications and experience.

Experience in leading safety investigations.

Ability to effectively communicate safety rules and regulations to co-workers, supervisors, managers and others.

Ability to incentivise and train personnel to perform job safety related duties, and to provide training related to WHS and company regulations, rules, and safety guidelines.

Ability to make independent judgments using sound reasoning skills.

Basic knowledge and understanding of Workers Compensation and Injury Management.

Ability to analyse safety data and statistics.

Flexibility to travel to our regional Queensland depots and our Port Kembla operations in New South Wales.
