Position Title: Urgent Care Nurse Coordinator – Launceston Medicare Urgent Care Clinic
Reports To: Practice Manager
Location: Launceston Medicare Urgent Care Clinic
Employment Type: Part-time/Casual/Fixed-term (3 days per week, flexible days desired)

About the Role

We’re on the lookout for an experienced and confident nurse who loves leading a team, keeping things running smoothly, and supporting others to do their best work. This is a hands-on leadership role—perfect for someone who knows their way around urgent care or ED, and who thrives in a fast-paced but supportive environment.

As our Nurse Leader, you’ll work closely with the Practice Manager and the rest of the clinical team to keep everything on track, from day-to-day nursing workflows to team education, safety, and performance. You’ll also help us build a positive, flexible, and people-first culture where nurses feel supported and patients get high-quality care, without the stress of a hospital emergency department.

If you’re organised, proactive, a great communicator, and enjoy being the calm in the chaos, we’d love to hear from you.

What You’ll Be Doing

Leading the Team

Supporting and guiding the nursing team during shifts, especially when things get busy

Helping with triage, managing patient flow, and keeping clinical care safe, efficient, and timely

Onboarding new nurses and keeping everyone up to date with best practice and clinic expectations

Being the go-to person for advice, problem-solving, and teamwork

Keeping Things Running

Maintaining key registers like OH&S, incidents, infection control, and complaints

Making sure documentation is completed accurately and on time

Working closely with the Practice Manager on rostering and planning for busy periods

Supporting Learning and Training

Playing a key role in planning and running both compulsory training (like BLS and infection control) and extra education sessions that help us go above and beyond

Spotting training gaps and supporting professional development across the team

Being part of our teaching culture—supporting students, new grads, and anyone keen to keep learning

Quality, Safety & Budgeting

Helping us meet our KPIs (think: wait times, patient satisfaction, care quality)

Managing clinical consumables and helping keep to budget

Participating in audits, reviewing incidents, and making things better where we can

Culture & Connection

Helping create a workplace people enjoy coming to

Encouraging open communication, teamwork, and a few laughs along the way

Working with a supportive team of GPs, nurses, admin and allied health

What We’re Looking For

Must-Haves:

AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse

BLS/ALS

Triage Training

At least 5 years of nursing experience (with at least 2 years in urgent care and/or ED)

Previous experience leading or supervising a team

Confident with documentation, OH&S processes, and risk management

Great communication and problem-solving skills

A calm, friendly approach (even on the tough days)

Nice-to-Haves:

Experience working in a Medicare Urgent Care Clinic (or similar)

Familiarity with clinical software, Medicare billing, and managing budgets

An interest in education, training, and helping others learn

Someone who brings a bit of warmth and energy to the team

Why Join Us?

We’re not just ticking boxes here—we’re building something that works for our team and our community. You’ll get:

Flexibility to suit your life

A genuinely supportive team culture

Room to grow and take ownership

A say in how we do things
