"Miles Ahead Care" is a small family run business model. We are not a traditional service provider we don't extend over our reach for clients seeking only profit. Instead we keep a small team of professionals that work one on one with our clients. We currently have two clients both living on the same block of land however have built a purpose built supported disability accommodation for one and the other stays in his rented house.

Client One is a 60-year-old man who is permanently in a wheelchair due to being a paraplegic. He is 1:1 for his hours. This allows consistency in care and the ability for workers to build a professional relationship with the client. If you join "Miles Ahead Care” as a Support Worker, you will be assured of working at the one location with longer shifts—no running between clients for a few hours here and there.

The client enjoys waking up early and listening to the radio. His previous providers have not allowed him to do this. Miles Ahead Care believes it is the participant's" choice of how he would like to live his life and encourages the client to make his own lifestyle choices which we then work to support.

It is expected that workers will be able to do a mixture of day and night shifts. We believe the client will only get the stable, sustainable service he requires if staff are treated well and paid competitively. There are 76 Active hours 56 sleepover hours a week of support to be provided to this client by the Team.

Client two is also a 60 male with low intensity anxiety. His supports focus mainly on community access—he enjoys going out and needs a support worker to drive him to various activities. When he is unable to go out, he may need assistance with cleaning tasks at home. He has a strong passion for music, both playing and teaching, and enjoys visiting local parks with his assistance dog and listening to live music around Toowoomba. He has 16 hours of supports per week. In September there may be more hours due to his daughter transitioning her care and moving in with Client Two.

About the Role

You will be paid above-award wages to provide in-home and community access support. Once trained and introduced to the client's routine, you will work independently with the clients.

For client one you will work to ensure that regular pad changes, washes, shaves and other personal hygiene are performed. You will need to be able to write progress notes throughout the shift.

For both clients you will also assist in the running of the clients running home, including cooking, cleaning and light gardening tasks as part of a team of staff. The service is a continuous model of care, so flexibility and the ability to swap your shifts with others in your Team will give you and your team members lifestyle flexibility within the set roster.

Position Type

Employed on a casual basis under the Schads Award level 1.1 Home Care Employee with a bonus above award each pay. This bonus brings the pay rates to the following:

Daytime $39.00 p/hour

Saturday $54.60 p/hour

Sunday $70.20 p/hour

Public Holiday $85.80 p/hour

Sleepover Shift Allowance $100.00/Inactive night

These rates do not include the super rate of 12%, paid on top of these rates.

About You

Experience in disability work is highly valued but not mandatory. You will be a Team Player who shows commitment to fulfilling the shifts you are employed to perform in a manner that displays honesty, integrity, and initiative. Experience with indwelling catheters is highly valued but not mandatory as you will be trained to the client's needs. Lived disability experience is also appreciated, as are resilience and flexibility.

Have completed all NDIS modules prior to the start date
