Program Managers coordinate the delivery of multiple related projects and other change activities, which may include business-as-usual activities.

Please note AUSTRAC requires a Platform Systems Program Manager which has been aligned to the Program Manager job family.

Key duties and responsibilities

This procurement seeks the services of an experienced Platform Systems Program Manager, the role will rest under the Technology and Platform Solutions Team within the Innovation and Technology Solutions branch of AUSTRAC.

This role will support the Technology and Platform Solutions Team with priority projects which include:

Infrastructure end of life replacement and upgrades

Supporting Reform, Orbit, IT Uplift and Tranche 2 work across the agency.

Establishing a multi-cloud and data centre consolidation program of work

Implementation and operationalisation of the SDLC product Gitlab across the development and software platforms

Various business projects, including home grown applications and COTS application integrations (including Pega, Palantir, Atlassian)

The role’s primary responsibility is the efficient and effective delivery of a portfolio of business and technology projects aligned to AUSTRAC’s technology strategy within the available funding envelope. A key component of the role will be defining, communicating and executing an overarching multiyear delivery plan. This plan will be required to clearly identify the delivery scope of each project, its benefits and overall alignment to the core strategy.

Required Skills

Extensive skills and experience working with stakeholders to build technical delivery plans.

Ability to challenge existing practices and work proactively to identify innovative solutions to blockers.

Ability to resolve differences of opinion within the team, from both a technical and personal perspective.

Ability to effectively communicate across all levels within the organisation, from hands on technical staff to the executive.

A strong understanding of structured and agile delivery practices ideally with certifications in both (e.g. Prince2 and AgilePM Practitioner), and experience in applying the appropriate structure based on the characteristics of the project.

A solid technical foundation in Linux, containers and infrastructure orchestration.

Good knowledge and understanding of the Australian Information Security Manual (ISM) and the Essential Eight strategies to mitigate cyber threats within a Protected environment.
