About the Role

The Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap is a strategic priority of NSW Government. The Energy Infrastructure division is recruiting an Assistant Policy & Projects Officer to support strategic policy advice to deliver critical projects on NSW reforms in response to wholesale electricity market settings and their impact on market participants.

This is not a straightforward support role—it’s an opportunity for someone who is eager to challenge themselves, absorb new and complex financial concepts, and make a tangible contribution to a team driving important policy outcomes. You’ll be involved in analysing policy and legislative changes, supporting new policy development and helping to shape deliverables that have real-world impact. Day to day, you’ll be analysing complex papers, researching market concepts to fill knowledge gaps, and contributing to team discussions on topics such as contract markets, and governance models. You’ll review and draft documents, liaise with stakeholders, take notes at stakeholder meetings, and provide general team support including administrative tasks such as coordinating meetings and procurement.

If you thrive in a fast-paced, intellectually curious environment and want to build expertise in energy markets and regulatory frameworks, we want to hear from you.

About the Team

Within DCCEEW, Energy, Climate Change & Sustainability is the policy maker for energy reliability and affordability, climate change, and emissions reduction. The energy transition is already well underway in NSW. We already have enough projects to get us more than halfway to our 2030 renewable energy generation goal. Our challenge is to ensure an integrated, fair and enduring impact on the current and future residents of NSW.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is not only curious and driven to learn, but also organised, proactive, and able to manage their time effectively across competing priorities. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of project management principles and enjoy working in an agile, deadline-driven environment. You’ll be someone who thrives on solving complex problems, communicates clearly, and can work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

If you're looking to apply your skills in a dynamic policy and market context—and grow in a role that offers both depth and challenge—this could be the perfect next step.
