Position objectives

This position is responsible for leading the implementation and development of marketing initiatives to increase engagement with visitors in attractions and tourism offerings across Northern Grampians Shire Council.

Key responsibility areas

Develop and deliver marketing initiatives and strategies to support the visitor economy by offering unique, high quality, enriching and widely-dispersed opportunities across Northern Grampians.

Develop and deliver marketing initiatives that support and improve in-destination visitor information and services.

Communicate and engage effectively to build and maintain productive relationships and partnerships with key visitor economy stakeholders including Grampians Tourism.

Inform and provide advice to Council on emerging issues and barriers to the visitor economy

Evaluate and report on marketing activities and achievements of visitor economy and visitor service offerings.

Research, investigate and present opportunities to improve visitor service and visitor information in line with council’s strategic plans including the Economic Development Strategy and Tourism Action Plans.

Review, analyse and maintain awareness of relevant Regional, State and Commonwealth policies and plans which impact on the Northern Grampians visitor economy.

Perform, as directed, other duties that are within the limits of the incumbents’ skill, competence and training.

Qualifications and experience

Hold or working towards relevant tertiary qualifications in marketing or tourism and some practical experience in the marketing industry, or substantial experience in tourism marketing or related field.

Selection criteria

Demonstrated experience in coordinating and implementing marketing activities

Proven experience in managing campaigns and projects on time and within budget

Developed understanding of challenges and opportunities of visitor information services and the regional visitor economy.

Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to provide a high quality outcomes.

Demonstrated communication skills, including report writing, preparation of presentations and communication material.
