Posted 1 day ago
About Us
St Peters Place is a social enterprise café with a mission: to create meaningful employment and training pathways for people exiting the justice system. In partnership with the Judy Lazarus Transition Centre (JLTC), our coffee cart provides real-world hospitality experience and community connection for individuals making a fresh start.
About the Role
We’re seeking a hands-on, compassionate Coffee Cart Supervisor to lead the operations and growth of our caravan-style mobile coffee cart. This role balances hospitality, training, and business management — delivering high-quality service while mentoring program participants and helping scale the social enterprise.
You’ll manage people, product, process and purpose — all from the heart of the coffee cart.
Key Responsibilities
Cart Operations
Oversee daily setup, pack-down, cleanliness, and storage of the caravan cart
Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality coffee and food service
Manage compliance with food safety, OHS, and local council regulations
Use point-of-sale (POS), EFTPOS, and other systems to manage daily transactions and reporting
Team & Program Supervision
Lead, schedule, and supervise a small team of baristas and JLTC trainees
Deliver structured on-the-job training, coaching and barista development
Provide compassionate mentoring to JLTC participants, supporting their transition to open employment
Build a culture of respect, inclusion, and growth
Business & Admin Management
Manage day-to-day and weekly budgets, track sales and expenses
Oversee stock control, ordering, inventory rotation and supplier relationships
Coordinate rostering, timesheets, and HR processes with support from leadership
Support reporting requirements for the social enterprise program
Marketing & Growth
Promote the cart through basic marketing, events, and social media
Create and share content that highlights the mission and impact of the program
Represent St Peters Place at community events, markets and potential partnership locations
Help identify and support opportunities to grow the cart’s reach and training capacity
What You’ll Bring
• Strong hospitality experience, including barista and café service
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience
• Experience working with people from diverse or vulnerable backgrounds, ideally in a trauma-informed or employment training setting
• Sound organisational and business management skills
• Confidence using technology — POS systems, rostering apps, social media platforms, basic spreadsheets
• A compassionate, patient and people-first mindset
• Commitment to social justice, inclusion, and second chances
Why Join Us?
• Be part of a purpose-driven team transforming lives through coffee
• Work in a dynamic, mobile hospitality setting with the chance to grow something special
• Empower others through training, connection and kindness
• Help shape the future of a small social enterprise with big impact
