Position overview

The Officer, Peer Support and Transition is responsible for supporting the design, planning and implementation of strategies and programs which contribute to improved transition, retention, support, progression and success of student within the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Built Environment. This includes but is not limited to: Orientation/Induction, Enrolment/Course Info sessions, Student Peer Mentor Programs, Student Helping Student initiatives and social activities, competitions, conferences, and other programs as required.

As a Student Transition and Engagement Officer, you will:

  • Design, implement and coordinate peer mentoring and transition programs tailored to the needs of commencing students within the Faculty
  • Collaborate with academic and professional staff to support the successful orientation and transition of students into their courses
  • Facilitate workshops, drop-ins, and small group sessions focused on student success, peer learning, and help-seeking behaviours
  • Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders including academic course teams, student experience units, and external partners to enhance student-facing offerings
  • Provide support for students and host organisations to engage students in a range of competitions, conferences and professional activities

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • A Degree with subsequent relevant experience; or
  • Extensive experience and specialist knowledge or broad knowledge in technical or administrative fields; or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Administrative experience working within a large organisation with formal administrative structures, policies and procedures, preferably in a tertiary educational institution.
  • Customer service or student administrative experience, preferably in a tertiary educational institution
