We are seeking an experienced and passionate School Counsellor to provide individualised support to Arcadia College Distance Education students requiring intensive case management, assessment, and intervention, as well as advice and support to staff. To liaise with relevant outside services that will ensure continued referral pathways and united support for students. To support student engagement, wellbeing and learning outcomes.

The position is located at Arcadia College Distance Education in Varsity Lakes, QLD, and is offered as a permanent full-time role, working from 8:00am to 4:00pm Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities:

Child Protection – Support mandatory reporting including documentation follow-up via Kissflow and notification to Principal.

Support and case manage high risk students.

Support staff with advice and resources for high needs students.

Manage and maintain a referral process for students to access support.

Ensure information re support programs and services is passed on to College staff and kept up to date and relevant.

Work closely with the Principal, Deputy Principal, Senior Psychologist and Head of Wellbeing to ensure relevant and appropriate services are being offered to the staff and students.

Case managing students under the care of Child Safety, including advice for School leadership team.

Review and provide input into student educational support plans and individual support plans - EAP.

Collaboration with EAP Officer.

Counselling, intervention and case management .

Student education support plans and individual support plans.

Abiding by the ethics in alignment with your disciplines' governing body.

Support Key Stakeholders with NCCD documentation as required.

Crisis Management – Advice and Leadership.

Build and foster relationships with families and external services within the community.

Provide advice and support as required to relevant staff for students diagnosed with a disability.

Key Performance Indicators:

Sustain attendance and engagement of “at risk” students at Ohana.

Ensure engagement and individual support plan for new students.

Implementation of referral pathways and strategies that enhance the engagement of at-risk young people and support the staff.

Manage learning and wellbeing student referrals via assessment, counselling and intervention.

Skills & Qualifications required:

Hold relevant qualifications.

Desirable qualifications include: Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Counselling and current registration with AHPRA or relevant professional body is highly desired.

Prioritise tasks to respond to most critical tasks first.

Flexibility to adapt to a fast-paced environment.

Maintain timely case notes and records.

Effective and respectful communication with staff, students, parents/carers and other stakeholders.

Able to develop good working relationships at all levels.

Able to self-manage and meet deadlines.

Translates broad goals into achievable steps.

Anticipates and solves problems and takes advantage of opportunities, is a self-starter and team player.

Comfortable with diversity and respectful of a wide range of faiths, beliefs, morals, ethics and experiences.

Possesses the skills and implements the functions of a leader sharing Ohana College’s values, mission and vision.

Collaborates with staff in a respectful and meaningful way.
