This role is not suitable for individuals currently performing in the industry who are unable to fully commit to our programs, team engagement, and client development.

Preferred Qualifications

Ballet teaching experience, particularly with adult learners, and a willingness to learn or demonstrated high-level/syllabus knowledge as a dancer.

Strong knowledge of ballet technique and safe dance practices

Teaching Responsibilities

Deliver adult ballet classes with strong technique, progressive structure, and encouragement.

Teach a range of levels (Introductory to Advanced), depending on your experience and training provided.

Offer clear, helpful feedback and guide students in their ballet journey.

Teach Floor Barre and/or Pointe classes as required, or be open to training in these areas.

Contribute to our studio’s warm, respectful culture on and off the floor.

Train in and deliver Adult Ballet Centre's Adult Ballet Assessment Program as required.

Spend time and enthusiasm engaging with clients and delivering high-quality service in every class.

Contribute to the expansion of offerings and class experiences at ABC through creativity, collaboration, and initiative.

Working Hours

Initial schedule includes Saturday mornings, Monday daytime, and future Wednesday evening shifts.

There is potential for expansion of these hours based on studio needs and teacher availability.

All classes take place at our Cheltenham studios, ideally you will live in the South East of Melbourne close to the studio. Start date is negotiable for the right candidate, with onboarding available as early as August.

Pay Structure (All rates plus 12% superannuation)

Ballet class (90mins): $55 per class

Floor Barre / Pointe class (45–60 min): $35 per hour

Admin & Training: $28 per hour

Private Coaching: Rates (booked separately after 3 month trial period)

Employment rate will be revised based on experience, learning engagement and 3 month trial period

Employment Type

You will be engaged as an independent contractor on a casual basis, with hours offered in alignment with studio needs and availability.

Private coaching is managed separately from regular teaching duties.

All new team members participate in a three-month paid trial period, which includes supported onboarding and training. This ensures alignment with ABC values, expectations, and teaching quality.

This includes administration training with the Clubworx system, studio documentation, and understanding how we operate digitally. All team members must be open to learning new systems and engaging with evolving technology to support studio operations.

Please note: While this is not a full-time role, it offers meaningful and consistent teaching hours, professional support, and the opportunity to grow within a respected, purpose-led studio. Many of our teachers balance studio work with other creative, educational, or lifestyle commitments.
